FAA Registration Will Be Required To Fly At Quarry Field

Because of the terms of our lease, LARCC will be requiring FAA registration for anyone flying any aircraft over 0.55-pounds.

Club members need to show proof of registration to one of the club officers.

FAA registration will also be required for all visiting pilots, including at our Swap Meet in May and the Fun Fly in September.

If you are staying under the 0.55-pound limit, there is no need to have FAA registration.  If later in the year you decide to exceed the 0.55-pound limit,  you will need to register with the FAA and a club officer will need to see your FAA registration before flying at Quarry Field.

Local  remote control club, LARCC, assisted DeForest Wi., Veterans Memorial Park

Excitement was in the fall air last week at Veterans Memorial Park in DeForest as the latest military piece was installed to mark the culmination of years of planning and effort by the DeForest Veterans Memorial Foundation (DVMF).

A one-sixth scale model of an F-16 Fighting Falcon was placed at the Main Street park to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. Air Force veterans.

The F-16 represents multiple eras of military service and remains a part of today’s armed forces as the Wisconsin Air National Guard operates them over the DeForest area almost daily to and from the Dane County Regional Airport.

Brian Roberts of the Lodi Area Radio Control Club, assembled the over 8 ft, F-16,  Jet Masters fiberglass kit making it ready for paint.

The aircraft now on display is authentically painted to match the period of the last decade when the 115th Fighter Wing flew it in combat. The F-16’s tail number reads 87-0348 and still serves the country on alert, training and live missions.

Lt Col Chris Helstad, the pilot’s name that adorns the model’s left canopy window frame, flew for 25 years in the Wisconsin National Guard and now resides in Sun Prairie. The Crew Chief name on the right canopy window frame, TSgt. Ryan Brown, has since been promoted to Master Sergeant and he serves in the Wisconsin Air National Guard and lives in DeForest with his family.
